THE HERITAGE HOTEL MANILA WELCOMES AN AUSPICIOUS YEAR OF THE EARTH OX WITH A DAZZLING YU SHENG PROSPERITY TOSS & FASHION SHOW

There are things that you could surely count on at the onset of the Chinese New year: The ubiquitous lion and dragon dance, red packets and, of course, a spectacular Chinese New Year fete at the Singaporean owned Heritage Hotel Manila.

In the auspicious Year of The Earth Ox, more than 300 revelers from the diplomatic corps, corporate circle and media flocked to the Artists' Ballroom for the toe-curling goodness of the Singaporean-inspired Yu Sheng Prosperity Toss, jaw-dropping production numbers and a captivating Chinese-inspired fashion show especially designed by the young hot designers of La Salle College International under the tutelage of renowned fashion designer Danilo Franco and Gerry Katigbak.

To herald the Year of the Earth Ox with joie de vivre, Mr. Eddie Yeo, the Heritage Hotel’s General Manager together with Mrs. Mary Yeo, his spouse, H.E. Ambassador Aloy Ratnayake, Embassy of Sri Lanka; Mr. Sadek Osman, Charge de Affaires, Embassy of Libya; Mr. Hadi Osman, Embassy of Libya; H. E. Ambassador Selverajah, Embassy of Singapore; Mrs. Mary Selverajah, spouse of Singaporean Ambassador; Mrs. Rosilawati Rasidi, spouse of Malaysian Ambassador; H.E. Ambassador Dato' Ahmad Rasidi Hazizi, Malaysian Embassy led the ceremonial toss of the only authentic Yu Sheng Prosperity Salad in Philippine shores. Participants from the power corridors of Manila gamely shouted “Lo Hei!” in jest for wishes of abundance, good health and success in 2009.

Also present at the dinner Indonesian Ambassador Prof. Irzan Tandjung, Thai Airways General Manager Mr. Nivat Chantarachoti, Singapore Airlines General Manager Mr. Clinton Tan, Singapore Tourism Board Area Direcor Ms. Lynelle Seow Lui-Chern, Russian Embassy’s Mr. Alexander Serov, Royal Thai Embassy’s Mr. Chacorn Suchiva, South Korea’s Col. Tug Ho Rhewy, US Embassy’s Arthur Lontoc as well as the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Raymund Toledo,

La Salle College International Director Gina Icanom and socialites Fe Dixon, Geena Zablan and noted society columnists were spotted partaking the Yu Sheng Salad Prosperity Platter as well as the rest of the 8-course Chinese set dinner especially prepared by the Heritage Hotel’s Executive Chef, Chef Sunny Goh.

Heritage Hotel’s Marketing Communications Manager Ms. Romina Gervacio, hosted the colorful and glamorous occasion amidst the splash of Chinese scarlet ambiance, golden emblems reeking with symbolisms of good fortune and guests in their glittery Cheong Sams simply delighting in the good spirits of the Chinese New Year celebration.

To further add sparkle to the affair, the Singapore Tourism Board, HUGO BOSS Red, L’Oreal and Haagen Dazs supported the Heritage Hotel’s Chinese New Year event.

As guests relish the good vibes of the authentic Chinese dinner, Ms. Faith Cuneta rendered a special number followed by song numbers from the Heritage Twins and Ms. Chiara King, Sales Manager, Belly Dancing by Heritage Hotel’s Joyce Paguia, the 1st prize winner of the Hotel’s and Restaurant Management Association of the Philippines Dance Contest and a crowd-pleaser dance medley performance from the Heritage Hotel’s usually mild-mannered Accounting and Housekeeping Staff turned to dancing kings and queens.

As a finale, Ms. Gigi Gaw, Director of Sales and Marketing put on her killer boots and strutted her stuff in a tailor-made Chinese/Western fusion creation to lead the sales and marketing team to a unique collection of Chinese designer clothes courtesy of La Salle College International.

As a tradition, in the spirit of achieving balance and harmony in the Year of the Earth Ox, The Heritage Hotel Manila, the Heritage Hotel once again launched a unique Wishing Earth Ox fund-raising drive to benefit the Shepherd of the Hills Foundation, a non-government organization dedicated to help improve the lives of the abandoned and street children.

WELCOME THE YEAR OF THE EARTH OX WITH LO HEI FORTUNE BUFFET AT THE HERITAGE HOTEL MANILA

The Year of the Earth Ox symbolizes prosperity through fortitude and hard work. Celebrate this auspicious Lunar New Year at the Riviera Café from January 26 to February 9, 2009 with its “Lo Hei” Fortune Buffet Lunch/Dinner for only PhP 1,288.00++ per person.
For good luck, start off a festive Chinese New Year celebration with a shower of good fortune during the ceremonies for the traditional lion and dragon dance, coin tossing and the lighting of firecrackers at the Hotel Lobby on January 26, 2009 at 11am.

Then share a wide variety of authentic Chinese dishes teeming with Chinese symbolisms of good providence, happiness, health, youthfulness and abundance. Savor vast specialties swathed in Chinese traditions such as the Yu Sheng Salad, Tsong Tsai Fan (Special Mini Pot Rice with Chinese Sausage), Tsong Tsai Tong (Mini Pot Soup), Ho Xi Fatt Choy (Braised Dried Oyster with Black Moss and Vegetable), and Muar Chee (Glutinous Rice Ball Glazed with Grated Peanuts).

Attract positive energies and help forge stronger and more meaningful personal and business relationships with the must-try Lunar New Year Prosperity Salad Platter known as Yu Sheng Salad. Yu means "fish" but when pronounced, it also means "abundance"; and Sheng means literally "raw" but enunciated appropriately, it means "life". Thus, Yu Sheng implies "abundance of wealth and long life".

Participate in the Yu Sheng Prosperity salad ceremony and have a first hand experience of the traditional “Lo Hei!” which is Cantonese for "tossing luck" with family and friends. This ingenious dish was popularized in Singapore and Malaysia decades ago. Chopsticks are used to toss the ingredients as high in the air as you can. Make a wish and shout “Lo Hei!” for abundance and good fortune as you toss.
Bring home a pack of luck and hold your own private traditional ceremony of tossing the Yu Sheng, the Lunar New Year prosperity salad platter for only PhP 888.00++ good for four to five persons. Bigger and smaller sizes of the prosperity platter are also available.

For inquiries and reservations, please call 854-8888 or email foodbev@heritagehotelmanila.com. Prices quoted are inclusive of 10% VAT but subject to 10% service charge and applicable local tax. The Heritage Hotel Manila is a member of the Millennium & Copthorne Hotels and Resorts (M&C).
