THHM First Aid and Basic Life Support Training
As part of The Heritage Hotel Manila’s annual training on first aid and basic life support, a new set of employees were trained on how to respond to emergency situations. The instructors of the Philippine National Red Cross-Pasay Chapter conducted the hands on seminar-work...shop with role playing scenario. A refresher course was also implemented for the previous batch of first aid responders.
The training provided information and practical first aid application to common emergency incidents such as burns, wounds, chocking, shock and stroke. The culminating portion of the training was an action-packed play-acting of a virtual disaster scenario that proved the mettle, preparedness, composure and competence of the participants on the appropriate and timely procedures and response during crisis situations.

Heritage Hotel joins the National Geographic Channel’s Earth Day Run
In solidarity with the worldwide celebration of Earth Day, Heritage Hotel Manila representatives signed up for the 5K and 10K run and joined around 5,000 participants in the 1st National Geographic Earth Run during the break of dawn last April 18, 2010 at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) grounds to raise awareness on the need to mitigate the effects of global warming and raise funds for the benefit of Design Against the Elements (DAtE), a global architectural design contest that aims to provide a solution to the problems presented by climate change.
“It is unfortunate to know that we are one of the most vulnerable to natural disasters but the least to adapt. The fun run raises the people’s awareness about caring for nature but at the same we find ways to adapt to the threats of climate change by supporting green building solutions,” averred Illac Diaz, DAtE head honcho and founder & Executive Director of MyShelter Foundation.
“We are happy with the turn-out of the participants in National Geographic Channel’s first ever Earth Day Run. It shows how much we Filipinos care about our planet and how much we are willing to sacrifice to help address the issue of climate change,” stated Mr. Jude Turcuato, Territory Director of FOX International and National Geographic Channel Asia.
Secretary Heherson Alvarez, Presidential Adviser on Global Warming and Climate Change (OPACC), environmentalist and former Senator also graced the event together with some the local celebrities who participated in the run: Karylle Tatlonghari (who won 2nd place in the 3K run), Julia Barretto, Palmolive commercial model (daughter of Marjorie Barretto & Dennis Padilla) and Lizelle Martinez with her children.
