Dolce Vita! Dolce Italia! at The Heritage Hotel Manila

Spaghetti Carbonara

Pasta Medley

Unlike the scenes in the cult classic Godfather films, one doesn’t have to join the clan of Don Vito Corleone and duck under the tables to dodge bullets in order to take pleasure in “Dolce Vita! Dolce Italia!” -  the oh-so-heavenly Italian cuisine amid an international buffet spread and served in a warm and cozy trattoria-like ambiance of the Riviera Café, Heritage Hotel available from October 11-24, 2010 in conjunction with the Italian Festival 2010 presented by the Italian Trade Commission in Manila.

Delve in satisfyingly delizioso fare at the create-your-own-pizza corner. Select any of the Chef’s choice of toppings of Broccoli Florets, White Mushrooms, Fresh Onions, Roasted Peppers, Fresh Peppers, Diced Plum Tomatoes, Sun-Dried Tomatoes, Anchovies, Roasted Garlic, Pesto Sauce, Mozzarella, Feta Cheese, Ricotta Cheese, Pepperoni or Spinach on newly-made thin crust dough for on-the-spot baking at the oven to taste the contrast of flavors & aromas of ingredients and the melt-in-the-mouth cheese on the zing of the crispy warm thin crust.

Satiate the craving for home-made and make-your-own pasta creation, cooked fresh a la minute at the kitchen theatre. Sample the Chef’s recommendation of Tortelloni al Pomodoro (Hand-made, ricotta filled pasta with a plum tomato sauce), Pappardelle al Sugo ( Homemade flat noodles with classic Bolognese sauce), Penne all'Arrabbiata ( Quill-shaped pasta with tomatoes, herbs, pancetta & spicy sausage), Ravioletti con Pesto ( Ricotta-filled pasta with a basil sauce), Spaghetti alla Marinara ( seafood with garlic, plum tomatoes and basil, Rigatoni con Broccoli e Pignoli (with broccoli, garlic, oil & toasted pine nuts) and Capellini d'Angelo alla Marechiaro ( Angel Hair Pasta with fresh clams, shrimp, garlic & plum tomato).

For the main course, have a hearty Italian appetite  for Steak Alla Pizzaiola, Roman Style Beef Scallops, Polenta and Quails, Veal Roast with Olive Sauce, Beef Bistecca, Lombards Bolito Misto, Pizzaioli Beef Steak, Lengua Con Cetas, Peverada Braised Beef, Lamb Chops Potentina, Chicken Florentine, Pollo Au Vesuvio, Chicken Calabrese with Olives and Potatoes, Italian Sherry Pan Gravy Chicken, Prawn and Lentil Malfatti, Spinach and Ricotta Filled Mussels, Squid Ink Risotto, Andreoli Style Citrus Sea bass, Sauteed Clams Italian Style, Cream Dory with Potatoes and Ratatouille and  Cozze a Reganti.

As a presage for the Italian pizza, pasta and main course indulgence, tickle the palate with l’antipasto (appetizer) of Italian Antipasto Tossed Salad, Italian Salsa with Crostinis, Grilled Sliced Italian Sweet Sausages, Involtini alla Lucania (Eggplant and Air Dried Beef Ham with Ricotta Cheese Roll, Ricotta and Vegetable Terrine, Anchovy, Mushroom and Potato Tortino, Thin Slice Pastrami with Melon Balls, Pastrami, Mushroom and Cucumber with Lasagnette, Tuna, Fusilli, Green Bean and Onion Salad, Papardelle with Tomatoes and Zucchini and Ensalata Caprese.

As a sweet and happy gastronomic-ever-after, lavish in the Il Dolce (dessert) of Tiramisu, capture bliss in its layers of mascarpone cheese enfolded in sponge cake dipped in coffee liquor and a dash of cocoa powder.

Without haste, linger in good company and good food the Italian way of  piano piano (slowly), as Italians would have cheered in saying “A tavola non si invecchia mai.” (One never gets old at the table.). Living it up in this manner, soon enough one’ll fill the shoes of Diane Lane, languidly and seemingly skipping and hopping along under the Tuscan sun at the Heritage Hotel. Buon appetito!
